Welcome back to National Country Review’s weekly Friday Five feature! This feature is a little bit special with Valentine’s Day coming up fast tomorrow.
We’ve compiled a list of five songs for all of you love birds out there; and for those of you who would rather celebrate anything other than the big L-O-V-E, we have something for you, too!
1. “Why Don’t We Just Dance” by Josh Turner
Maybe you haven’t been together with your significant other for all that long, or maybe you have. Either way, there’s no better way to spend an afternoon than moving all the furniture out of the living room and dancing like nobody’s watching.
2. “Little White Church” by Little Big Town
Ladies, are you getting awfully sick of their lack of commitment? Just because it’s an age old, movie stereotyped problem doesn’t make it any less annoying, right? Well, there is no better time to lay down the law than Valentine’s Day. After all, with everyone running around all ga-ga for each other, they’re an idiot if they aren’t prepped for an outburst fueled by Little Big Town.
3. “Deeper Than the Holler” by Randy Travis
The king of country has countless classic love songs, but this one’s our favorite. Plus it’s incredibly helpful if you’re lacking the poetic talent to come up with another metaphor for love to write in your card. The version we’ve chosen to share with you is live where Travis is accompanied by the one and only Josh Turner.
4. “She’s In Love With the Boy” by Trisha Yearwood
This song takes the cake for over the top, painfully sweet love stories in country music. Go ahead and sing along as loud as you want; we know you know all the words.
5. “I’m Gonna Miss Her” by Brad Paisley
And finally, we want you to remember that even though it’s Valentine’s Day, not every relationship is meant to be. If she gets between you and your fishing time, well, let’s just say you’re in the clear to cancel those fancy schmancy reservations. Some things were not made to compromise on.
There you have it, NCR fans. We hope you enjoy your weekend. We’ll eat some heart shaped pancakes for you  … because you’ll always be our valentine.
