In true honky-tonk fashion, Three Top Ten Country Artists to listen to brought true country to the Motor City.

Whitey Morgan & The 78’s brought their old-fashioned true-grit outlaw honky-tonk twang to St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit, MI on  June 14th. The opening acts were local heavyweights Doop & the Inside Outlaws and Hellbound Glory.

Whitey Morgan has come a long way since his bar days in Flint, Michigan. Whitey relentlessly tours the country spreading his sound and attitude everywhere he goes. He plays real country music in the tradition of Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, and Merle Haggard. There is nothing pop about him, he is the real deal.

Just recently, LA Weekly listed Whitey Morgan and The 78’s,Doop and The Inside Outlaws, and Hellbound Glory as three of their Ten Country Artists You Should Be Listening To. This impressive list also includes Eric Church. Three of the top ten featured artists all played under the same roof on that night. Detroit’s country music scene is definitely on the rise and LA Weekly helped confirm it!
