Shanna Jackman maybe from the North but sings with the South in her boots.

Shanna Jackman may have a bit of an accent from New England, but her singing voice is all Southern. Making a return to the Charlie Horse in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts was certainly a homecoming. The venue has an open stage where only a step separates artists from fans.

January 29, fans of Jackman crowded the bar and stage area. Anticipation during the sound check built as fans started to recognize each other. Many were veterans and active members of the military. Fans shared stories of they last time they saw Jackman. Many have seen her at various charity events. They discuss her dedication to “the cause.”

Jackman made her way to the stage, stopping en route to greet fans. She took the time to thank the audience for being there. She shared her recollection of being on that stage before when she won WCTK 98.1’s Country Idol in 2010. Her career since winning the competition has enabled her to open for artists such as Blake Shelton, Gretchen Wilson, Dierks Bentley, Alan Jackson, and others. Jackman also took time interact with fans and posing for selfies.

Jackman played three sets entertaining fans for more than three hours. She began her show with a Sara Evens cover; “Suds in the Bucket.” Her setlist included “Girl Crush,” which the women in attendance turned it into a sing-a-long. Jackman also played “We’ve Got Your Back,” a song that made more than a few veterans puff up their chest and smile. Her take on the popular movie soundtrack for Country Strong, which Jackman dubbed “Boston Strong.”The audience appreciated the depth and meaning in the subtle changes of the lyrics to reflect Boston.
