Two months after their grand opening, Tequila Cowboy hosts Rodney Atkins to a sold out crowd of 1,200 people.

On the road touring in support of his 2015 released Greatest Hits album, Rodney Atkins stopped in at the Tequila Cowboy in Lansing to help “break in” the stage for national acts to follow.

Atkins brought along his wife, Rose Falcon, to open the show. Falcon, being a credited singer-songwriter on her own, played a short set to an anxiously waiting crowd.

With the venue reaching maximum capacity for the evening, Rodney Atkins came to the stage with a thunderous welcome from the crowd. Opening the show with his Top 5 hit, “Farmer’s Daughter,” Rodney had the crowd up on their toes and waving arms in the air as they sang along word for word.

With each song Atkins played, the crowd seemed to find a way to elevate their level of energy as he powered through his 14-song set. Rodney took a moment to give praise to the military and their families before he and the crowd sang his number one hit, “It’s America.” When finished, the crowd showed their respects by fiercely chanting “USA.”

Atkins slowed down the pace by showing a softer side that rarely makes an appearance during his live performances. He called his wife back to the stage, and the two sang a touching duet of songs including his hit, “Cabin In The Woods.”

Atkins picked the pace back up as he ended his show with two No. 1 hits, “Cleaning This Gun (Come On In Boy)” and “These Are My People,” from his 2006 released album, If You’re Going Through Hell.

With the crowd still pumped up, they loudly chanted “Rodney” to get him to return for an encore. As Atkins and his band took the stage one more time, they finished off the evening with “Watching You,” and “If You’re Going Through Hell.”
