Lynyrd Skynyrd and Brantley Gilbert to team up for a new episode of CMT Crossroads.
CMT Crossroads is a television series on the Country Music Television channel that pairs country music artists with other musicians of different genres. During the show the artists trade off doing performances of the other artists’ songs, and sometimes even execute duets.
The television series started back in 2002 and has continued to this day by bringing top of the chart artists to the show. Some of the previous artists on the show include Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, and Taylor Swift, to name a few.
Joining the list of artists on CMT Crossroads will be Lynyrd Skynyrd and Brantley Gilbert after their episode airs on June 27, 2015. This will be Lynyrd Skynyrd’s second appearance on the television series. The band’s first appearance was a partnership with Montgomery Gentry for an episode that aired in 2004. After the episode aired, in 2006 Lynyrd Skynyrd were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Some of their classic songs include “Sweet Home Alabama,†“Saturday Night Special,†and “Free Bird.â€
The other artist involved in the CMT Crossroads episode is Brantley Gilbert. Gilbert’s recent album, Just as I Am, was one of the top five-selling country albums of 2014.
