Lindi Ortega is a Canadian singer-songwriter who’s worth giving a listen.

Lindi Ortega was only 17 when she picked up her first guitar and wrote the first of many heartbreak songs. Her first song entitled, “Faded Dress,” was about her prom dress that hung in her closet, never worn due to a pre-prom breakup. Although Ortega’s music career was a risky endeavor at such a young age, she still toured around Toronto and gained the name Indie Lindi. In 2008, she signed to a major label, Interscope. She later signed to Last Gang in 2011.

In her bio, Ortega says, “I like to work with different musicians and producers to change the feels of every release. I don’t want to risk making the same record over and over. Working with a new group brings a new spirit and new ideas to the music.”

Ortega released her first independent album in 2001 entitled The Taste of Forbidden Fruit. Since then, she has released several more albums and has another expected to release August 7th. The album is entitled Faded Gloryville. Ortega’s next appearance will be on May 23rd in Toronto at the CBC Music Festival. Her next performance in the United States will be May 30th at the Lost Highway Motorcycle Show and Concert in San Bernardino, CA.
